Preparing the playground

Work is well underway to prepare the playground for April 2 – our first open day. 40 cubic metres of special grade wood chips were delivered. The picture shows Andy and Richard taking a well-earned break after spreading the wood chips. The next job is to scrub down the equipment with stiff bristle brushes and water to tidy the equipment….

Bank Holiday Monday

It’s a standard open day at Grimsthorpe this holiday Monday. Season tickets are valid and the sun  is already shining. It looks like it could be a great day for a picnic, or a stroll around the lake, or a bike ride, or to spend time in the kitchen garden, or to seek out the cool rooms of the castle…

Hercules over Grimsthorpe Castle

A big thank you to Terry Campbell for sending me this picture of the RAF Hercules flying low over Grimsthorpe. Can you see the geese launching themselves from the lake? The castle is often treated to the sights and sounds of classic RAF aircraft including the Spitfire, Hurricane, Dakota and Lancaster flying overhead.
