This mini exhibition looks at the complex technique of lacquerware and it’s lasting appeal. Practised in the East since 5000BC, lacquer items were first shipping to Europe in the 16th century when they became a statement of luxury and sophistication.

Discover the peaceful and meditative art of Ikebana. Rie Day will explain the Japanese expression of natural beauty through flower arrangement. Rie is a professor of the Ikenobo school, Japan’s oldest Ikebana school, and president of its UK Branch.

 

Includes talk and demonstration, followed by tea and cake.
